Maternity

Due to COVID-19, Homerton Hospital has made some changes to appointment and visiting arrangements in Maternity. This is in an attempt to curb/restrict the spread of the virus and protect the health of all women. Please visit Homerton Maternity Services for further information.

Breastfeeding drop-in sessions are currently suspended due to COVID-19. Please visit Homerton Health Visiting for further details and support with breastfeeding.

Maternity care covers a wide range of services for women, during pregnancy and after child birth.

At City & Hackney CCG, we want to make sure that local mums have the best possible experience of pregnancy, birth and postnatal care. Our maternity services include planned and unplanned care, inpatient, outpatient, community and home-based services.

Our local maternity unit is at Homerton University Hospital.

You can find maternity units near you by searching for your postcode on NHS Choices. They may be in neighbouring boroughs.

Our vision is for City & Hackney maternity services to support the transition from pregnancy to family life with quality services that are designed for women and their families’ needs. We want our maternity services to be flexible, appropriate and accessible to all women. We’re working closely with other clinical commissioning groups in north east London to come up with ways of improving maternity care in our areas.

We’re passionate about including user views in monitoring and developing the quality of services. If you have ideas or feedback please contact us.

City & Hackney Maternity Voices

We also commission a Maternity Voices, which influences and informs our plans for maternity services. The group includes residents and maternity professionals from Homerton Hospital, a GP lead, maternity organisations and community services. The Partnership is chaired by a Hackney mum and meets every two months
