Covid-19 and public engagement
We have temporarily suspended all face to face public engagement activity including events, meetings and focus groups to comply with national social distancing guidance, and to ensure all available resources are channelled to support City and Hackney Covid-19 response.
We continue speaking to residents and are collating feedback by using digital technology to note and record people’s experiences, concerns, and support needs around coronavirus. We are working closely with local councils, the community and voluntary sector, hospitals, GP services and Healthwatch on this.
City and Hackney CCG Patient and Public Involvement Committee, which is a sub-committee of the CCG’s Governing Body, continues to meet virtually every second Thursday of the month.

We aim to put the patient at the centre of all that we do.
We want you to feel that you are being listened to, and that your views are making a valuable contribution in setting health priorities for City and Hackney. We are committed to providing accessible opportunities for local people and stakeholders to talk to us about the services they receive or the issues that affect them and to help shape local health and care services.
We work with individual patient representatives as well as local Healthwatch organisations and community and voluntary sector groups.This will help us to understand, plan for, and commission, the best healthcare services to meet people's needs. We want:
- to be responsive and identify ways in which you can get involved and how best to support you in this.
- to find ways of reaching out to as many people in the community, especially to those communities who are often underrepresented, to get a wide range of views.
- to be informed so that the information we receive can help us make robust and informed decisions about commissioning local health services.
- to demonstrate how your involvement has helped make a difference by sharing 'You Said - We Did' updates
Our engagement activities are for everyone. We are committed to hosting meetings and events at venues that are accessible,and offering a range of different ways for people to have their say.
We can provide communication support such as translators, British Sign Language interpreters or additional briefing sessions on request. Local residents who work with us on regular basis can also claim expenses for transport, refreshments, childcare or cover for caring responsibilities.
