Marking national Mental Health Awareness Week, Richmond Road Medical Centre, E8, will be hosting a special event featuring over 30 health and wellbeing services available to City and Hackney residents.
The free Healthy Mind Event, from 2-6pm on Thursday 17 May, will showcase a variety of services from charities, providers, health organisations and Hackney Council to support mental health.
The event will also feature general health and wellbeing information from Hackney’s Stop Smoking service, Homerton’s diabetes and respiratory teams, and many others.
Attendees will also be able to give yoga and mindfulness sessions a try from a number of interactive stands featured at the event.
In Hackney, an estimated 53,000 working age people are affected by a common mental health condition with around half experiencing anxiety and depression. An estimated 6,200 working age adults are affected by a severe mental illness.
Doctor Gopal Mehta, from The Richmond Road Medical Centre, said: “We are committed to changing the face of mental illness in the borough and with our Healthy Mind Event, during Mental Health Awareness Week, we want to show the range of great services available to support mental health and wellbeing for all Hackney and City residents. A similar event that we held last year was a great success, I would like to see as many residents attend as possible and find out what is on offer.”
The event has been supported by City and Hackney Clinical Commissioning Group.
The event will take place at the Richmond Road Medical Centre, 136 Richmond Road, Hackney, E8 3HN. For further information you can call: 0207 254 2298 or visit:richmondroadmedicalcentre.nhs.uk
