Residents in the City and Hackney can now manage their health online in the same way they manage other areas of their life such as banking and shopping.
GP online services is a quick, easy and secure way to make and cancel GP appointments, order repeat prescriptions and view parts of your GP health record, including information about medication, allergies, vaccinations, previous illnesses and test results.
1.7 million Londoners have registered for online services with 89% of those surveyed saying registering is easy to do.
Evidence shows that patients who are involved in their health and care have less admissions to hospital and have better health outcomes overall.
Gopal Mehta, a GP from the Richmond Road practice said: “Digital Technology has changed the way we can manage our health. Through Online Access, patients can now book appointments, request their medications and view selected medical records without having to call the surgery. It has completely revolutionised the way patients can access their GP practice and our satisfaction rates have never been higher. I can’t emphasise the benefits enough and strongly encourage patients to sign up.”
A.Smyth, a patient that has used the service at Richmond Road said “I have been nothing but impressed with this service. I go online to book a phone call with a doctor, that call happens within a few hours and then I’m seen the same day. The online functionality is a welcome move for the practice too. The staff have been very kind and informative and treated my concerns with sensitivity.”
City and Hackney CCG is working with the Healthy London Partnership and supporting the London launch of GP online services. We want to encourage as many people as possible to sign up to this fantastic service and start taking control of their health. For more information please visit GP online services.
