Access to GP services and vaccines

Covid-19 testing and treatment is free of charge to everyone, regardless of their country of origin or immigration status.

Similarly, everyone is entitled to primary care and GP surgeries should not reject registration requests based on lack of ID, address or proof of residency. City and Hackney practices have signed up to the Safer Surgeries initiative by Doctors of the World, which emphasises all these points.

We want to encourage everyone to register with a GP because that is the best way to ensure people are able to access the healthcare and support they need, including being invited to get their Covid-19 vaccine when it’s their turn.  People can register online or ask someone to do it on their behalf here.  You need to provide your name, date of birth and a telephone number, but you do not need to provide an address or NHS number in order to register.

In City & Hackney a  number of homeless residents have been vaccinated at Greenhouse Practice and NHS Excel Centre team are supporting us with vaccinating other vulnerable groups using roving models including our homeless, asylum seekers and our traveller community.
